Outbreak/Illness Investigations

MULTI-COUNTRY OUTBREAK: Beacon reports that a Salmonella Infantis outbreak linked to a ready-to-eat cashew mousse has sickened 98 children in Germany and Austria, with additional cases in Luxembourg and possibly the Czech Republic

FRANCE (Update): ARS Haut-de-France reports that the number of cases of bloody diarrhea reported in Saint-Quentin has risen to 29. One victim has died and seven remain hospitalized.

USA (Update): FDA has completed its investigation into a multistate Salmonella outbreak linked to consumption of cucumbers from Bedner Growers Inc. According to the CDC, 69 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella were reported from 21 states, and 22 were hospitalized. CDC has declared the outbreak over.

Allergy Alert: Gaiser’s European Style Provisions Inc. recalls approximately 143,416 pounds of ready-to-eat bologna that contain meat or poultry source materials that are not declared on the product labels.

Food Safety Recall: Wiet Peeters Farm Products Limited recalls various sliced mushrooms due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall (France): M.A. BROCHETTE recalls M.A BROCHETTE brand BROCHETTES DE DINDE FILET BASQUAISE / Basque-style turkey fillet brochettes (Lot 109044; Use by 24/06/2025) due to Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Ireland): Ballymaguire Foods recalls various branded Bacon & Cabbage Dinners due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall (UK): BM Foods Ltd recalls Chicken Cooked Meat Trimmings (400g; Batch code 50328453; Use by 04/07/2025) due to foreign matter contamination (pieces of plastic).
