Outbreak/Illness Investigations
UK: The Food Standards Agency advises that Orgenism Eggshell Membrane Capsules have been associated with human illness due to Salmonella.
USA: CDC reports that the Salmonella outbreak linked to contact with backyard poultry has grown to 187 cases in 42 states. One person has died and 42 have been hospitalized. Twenty-eight percent (28%) of the outbreak victims are under 5 years of age.
United States
Allergy Alert: Shang Hao Jia, Inc. recalls Danshi brand Spicy Shredded Tofu (200g; Lot 20240825; Best by 05/24/2025; UPC 6942849709499) due to undeclared sesame.
Food Safety Recall: Hy-Vee recalls multiple products containing shrimp due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Canada
Allergy Alert: Eurogrocer Inc. recalls Nussbeisser brand “Czekolada mleczna z calymi orzechami laskowymi” (100g; All lot codes; UPC 5 903189 076314) due to undeclared milk.
Food Safety Recall: Natural Pastures Cheese Company Ltd. recalls Natural Pastures Cheese Company brand Mount Becher Buffalo Medium Cheese (~150g; Batch #854 263; Best before 2025.OC.02) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Europe
Allergy Alert (UK): Unilever UK recalls Wall’s Mini Milk Vanilla Strawberry & Chocolate Ice Cream Lollies (10 x 35 ml; Batch codes L5123, L5126, L5127, L5128, L5129, L5141 and L5142; Best before May 2027) because they contain milk and may contain nuts (pistachios), peanuts and soya which are not mentioned in English on the label.
