Outbreak/Illness Investigations
DENMARK: The State Serum Institute (SSI), the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and the National Food Institute of Denmark, in collaboration with foreign authorities, have identified Polar Salmon Hjerting Laks as the source of two separate listeria outbreaks from 2018 to 2024. A total of 27 people in Denmark have been confirmed with two different types of Listeria monocytogenes, which have also been found in products and environmental samples from Polar Salmon Hjerting Laks. All victims were hospitalized and three have died. Five outbreak cases also have been reported in Italy, Sweden, France and Germany.
United States
Food Safety Recall: Johnsonville, LLC recalls Johnsonville BRATS CHEDDAR Bratwurst (19-oz; Package code B9FOD) due to possible foreign matter contamination (hard plastic).
Canada
Allergy Alert: Pattison Food Group Ltd. recalls Buy-Low Foods and Nesters Market brands Hummus products (200-400g; Best before 2025/MR/30 up to and including 2025/AL/09) due to undeclared peanut.
Europe
Allergy Alert (UK): The Cotswold Brewing Company Limited recalls Hawkstone Black and Hawkstone Spa Lager (440 ml cans and 330 ml cans, respectively; All batches) due to undeclared gluten.
Food Safety Recall (Finland): Lidl recalls Way To Go -maitosuklaa, makuna mantelikaramelli ja merisuola / almond caramel and sea salt flavor milk chocolate (180g; Batch code L25083a; Best before 19.2.2026) and Chef Select feta-kanasalaatti / Feta chicken salad (300g; Best before 4.4.2025, 5.4.2025, 8.4.2025, 9.4.2025 & 10.4.2025) because an ingredient in both products may be contaminated with Salmonella.
Food Safety Recall (France): BOUCHERIE CHARCUTERIE BAREIL recalls Maison Bareil brand Pâté de tête (Lot 2025-070-09; Use by 26/03/2025, 17/03/2025 & 01/04/2025) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Food Safety Recall (France): RIFCARN SAVEUR D’ORIENT recalls RIFCARN SAVEURS D’ORIENT brand Brochette de poulet marinée au curry / Marinated chicken curry brochettes (Sold 17/03/2025 – 18/03/2025) due to Salmonella contamination.
