Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA (Update): CDC reports that the Listeria monocytogenes outbreak linked to Yu Shang Food ready-to-eat meat and poultry products has grown to 19 cases in 8 states. There has been a second death in this outbreak—both of them infants—and 17 of the 19 victims have been hospitalized. The CDC added a second strain of Listeria monocytogenes to the outbreak after it was identified in product and environmental testing.

USA: FDA and CDC are investigating 69 illnesses in a multistate outbreak of E. coli O157 infections linked to an iceberg and romaine lettuce blend served at catering events, restaurants, and a school.

Allergy Alert: Borsari Food Co recalls Borsari Bloody Mary Mix (32 oz.; UPC 815893000101) due to undeclared fish (anchovy) and soy.

Food Safety Recall: Riverside Natural Foods Inc. recalls certain batches of MadeGood granola bars due to foreign matter contamination (pieces of metal). Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Tipp Distributors, Inc. dba Novamex recalls Jarritos Coconut Water (17.5 fl oz cans; All lot codes) because the hermetic seal on the lid of the cans may be compromised

Food Safety Recall: Palm Bites Canada recalls Oasis Treasures brand Pistachio Dubai Chocolate (340g; Batch code 25JL25; UPC 8 02962 40190 7) due to possible Salmonella contamination.
