Outbreak/Illness Investigations

SWEDEN (Update): The Public Health Agency and Food Agency have been investigating an outbreak of 35 confirmed cases of Salmonella Typhimurium in 11 regions of the country. Although the outbreak has been declared over, no food source was able to be determined.

United States

Food Safety Recall: Inner Waymark LLC recalls Heart of the Earth (HOTE) 100% Pure Ceremonial Cacao Pre-Ground Paste (16 oz / 450g; Lot 506; Best by June 18, 2026.) due to elevated lead.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns NRS Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a Sunflour Bakery that a February 15, 2024, to March 06, 2024 inspection of the company’s food manufacturing facility revealed serious violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventative Controls for Human Food regulation.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Ice Cream House LLC that a February 21 through March 26, 2024 inspection of the company’s ice cream product manufacturing facility revealed serious violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food regulation (CGMP & PC rule) in addition to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the production environment.

Food Safety Recall: Loblaw Companies Limited recalls PC Blue Menu Original Margarine (454g, 907g, 1.81 kg; All codes up to and including BB/MA 2025MR 03) and PC Blue Menu Margarine with Olive Oil (907g; All codes up to and including BB/MA 2025MR 03) due to possible mould contamination.
