Public Health Alert: FSIS issues public health alert for SPAM Classic canned meat (12-oz cans; Lot code A08173; Best by AUG 2026) due to underprocessing. A recall was not requested because it is believed that the product is no longer available for consumers to purchase.

Canada

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (Calgary, Alberta): Albert Health Services reports a total of 348 lab-confirmed cases of E. coli O157 connected to the Calgary-area daycare centre outbreak, including 27 lab-confirmed secondary cases. Nine patients remain hospitalized, all suffering from haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). Three of the hospitalized patients remain on dialysis. A total of 642 children have been cleared to return to a daycare facility. Due to the secondary cases, seven daycare facilities are under closure and partial closure orders issued September 15 and 16.
