United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: CDC reports 102 confirmed cases of Salmonella Thompson infections in 14 states. The cases are linked to consumption of seafood distributed by Northeast Seafood Products of Denver, Colorado. The majority of sick people are either Colorado residents or reported traveling to Colorado in the week before they got sick. Only two people did not report travel to Colorado in the week before they got sick.

Allergy Alert: Nestlé Professional recalls four Nature’s Heart 1.5 ounce fruit and trail mix products due to undeclared peanuts. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert: Simple Mills recalls Fine Ground Sea Salt Almond Flour Crackers (4.25oz / 120g; Best by 02/12/2022, 02/13/2022, 02/14/2022 & 02/15/2022) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Recall: Northeast Seafood Products, Denver, CO recalls multiple seafood products that have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The recalled items include Haddock, Monkfish, Bone-in Trout, Grouper, Red Snapper, Red Rock Cod, Ocean Perch, Pacific Cod, Halibut, Coho Salmon, Atlantic Salmon Portions, Lane Snapper, Tilapia, All Natural Salmon Fillet, Pacific Sole, and Farm Raised Striped Bass. The recall is the result of several positive samples revealed during an FDA inspection, conducted during the course of an investigation of a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Thompson illnesses.

Food Safety Recall: Nick’s Famous Bar-B-Q recalls Nick’s FAMOUS Hickory Smoked Pork Bar-B-Q (20-lb boxes; Case code 23452; Use by 09/2022) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Crider Foods recalls approximately 525,717 pounds of canned beef with gravy products that may be contaminated with unsafe levels of lead. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Fullei Fresh recalls Fullei Fresh brand conventional and organic Bean Sprouts and Soy Sprouts (various package sizes and bulk packs; consecutive lot numbers between 251 and 271) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Baby Food Safety Recall: Maple Island Inc. recalls Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal (8 oz; Lots 21083, 21084 & 21242; Best if used by JUN 24 2022, JUN 25 2022 & NOV 30 2022, respectively; UPC 00681131082907) due to the presence of naturally occurring arsenic at concentrations above the guidance level.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: FDA is investigating a new outbreak of 20 Listeria monocytogenes illnesses that may be associated with a food product. No details have been released.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Norway): The Norwegian Food Safety Authority and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health are investigating an outbreak of 10 cases of Hepatitis A in several counties. No specific food or water source has been identified.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Norway): Norway’s National Institute of Public Health is investigating an outbreak of 13 confirmed cases of Salmonella Enteritidis linked to the handling of pet reptiles. The outbreak outbreak strain recovered from patients and from a pet snake is the same strain reported in an outbreak from the UK linked to  Salmonella-infected mice and rats used as feed for reptiles.
