United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC reports 592 confirmed cases of Salmonella Oranienburg infections in 36 states, with 116 people hospitalized. The investigation has not yet identified a food linked to illness.

Food Safety Recall: Evans Food Group Ltd. recalls approximately 10,359 pounds of pork pellet products that were imported without benefit of inspection. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of recalled products.

Allergy Alert Update: Global Vegetarian Foods Corp recalls Happy Veggie World brand Vege Chicken Breast and Vegefarm brand Vege Stewed Lamb Chunk (all codes) due to undeclared egg.

Allergy Alert: Canada Uncle Bill Group Inc. recalls Canada Uncle Bill Seafood brand Dried Octopus (142g; Batch code DO0220; UPC 7 70162 03866 0) due to undeclared sulphites.

Food Safety Recall: Verger Croque-Pomme recalls Pesto Basilic / Basil pesto (250 ml; Sold up to and including 14 October 2021) because the product may be unsafe to consume.

Europe

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (SWEDEN): Since July 2019, 36 people have been reported ill with several different types of Salmonella. The illnesses have been linked to consumption of sesame-based products from Syria, including tahini and halvah. This outbreak is international in scope.

Allergy Alert (Belgium): Huis Vanassche advises the public about the presence of multiple undeclared allergens in a range of salad products. Please refer to the allergy alert for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert (Iceland): Shams ehf. recalls Alibaba brand Kjúklinga shawarma vefja, grilluð kjúklinga vefja, Falafel vefja – vegan og hummus / Chicken shawarma wrap, grilled chicken, vegan falafel and hummus (All lots and best before dates) due to undeclared dairy and sesame.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): FSAI warns consumers that Frank & Honest Cold Brew (250 ml; Best before 03/05/2022, 04/05/2022 & 05/05/2022) contains undeclared gluten.

Allergy Alert (Netherlands): PepsiCo Nederland B.V. recalls Lay’s Ovenbaked Roasted Paprika (150g; Expiration date 01/01/2022) due to undeclared soy.
