OUTBREAK ALERT: CDC reports an outbreak of Hepatitis A affecting eleven individuals in three states (Indiana, Nebraska, and Wisconsin). According to FDA, the illnesses are linked to fresh conventional (non-organic) blackberries from the grocery store, Fresh Thyme Farmers Market.

OUTBREAK ALERT: CDC reports an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 illness affecting 17 individuals in eight states. According to FDA, the illnesses are linked to romaine lettuce contained in Ready Pac Bistro® Chicken Caesar Salad (Lot #255406963; UPC 0 77745 27249 8; “Best By” date Oct. 31, 2019) purchased from Sam’s Club stores in Maryland.

Food Safety Recall: Mondelēz Global LLC recalls CHEESE NIPS (11-oz box; Best by 18MAY20, 19MAY20, 20MAY20; UPC 0 44000 03453 5) due to potential foreign matter (small food-grade yellow plastic pieces from a dough scraper) contamination.

OUTBREAK ALERT / FOOD SAFETY RECALL (FRANCE): Santé publique France reports an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes affecting 8 individuals linked to consumption of Langue de porc en gelée / Jellied pork tongue manufactured by Tradival. The manufacturer has recalled all batch codes and Best Before date codes of this product from the market.

United States

FDA Investigation – Scombroid Poisoning: FDA and state health authorities are investigating 47 cases of scombrotoxin fish poisoning in 10 states. The illnesses have been linked to ahi tuna imported from Vietnam. FDA has asked Truong Phu Xanh Co, LTD, the supplier of most of the implicated ahi, to initiate a voluntary recall of all of its imported yellowfin tuna with production dates from January 2019 to the present. So far, the company has not taken any action. FDA has placed Truong Phu Xanh Co, LTD on Import Alert, allowing the agency to detain product at the port of entry without need for physical examination. Food Safety Recall: Central Valley Meat Co., Inc. recalls approximately 34,222 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with Salmonella Dublin. The recalled products have been linked to a deadly outbreak of Salmonella Dublin illnesses first reported by CDC on November 1, 2019

Pet Food Safety Recall: Go Raw, LLC recalls Quest Beef Cat Food (2-lb frozen bags; Lot N128; UPC 6-91730-17101-8) due to possible Salmonella contamination.
