Canada’s 7-Part Cheese Recall

A Canadian dairy company with the compelling name of 3903052 Canada Inc. (Boisbriand, QC) must be trying for the Guinness Book of World Records in the category of most dragged out food recall.

On November 4, 2011 the company recalled a single cheese product – Tifco brand Queso Panela – due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

On December 17th, 3903052 Canada Inc. announced its seventh Listeria monocytogenes recall in less than 1 1/2 months – adding yet more brand names, cheese and dairy varieties, and Best before dates to a long list of recalled products.

3903052 Canada Inc. is a federally inspected cheese and dairy product company, operating under Federal Establishment 1874. The company does NOT appear on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s list of dairy companies that operate under the Food Safety Enhancement Program.

Recalls and Health Hazard Alerts were issued by the company on November 4th, November 11th, November 14th, November 22nd, November 23rd, November 24th, December 13th and December 17th.
