United States
- Allergy Alert: Price Chopper/CMC Bakery recalls CMC Cake in a Cup, CMC Coffee Cakes, Creme Cakes and Crumb Cakes (Lot #RC11243BH003), because the recalled products may contain chocolate.
- Food Safety Recall: Price Chopper advises its customers that Polaner Sugar Free W/Fiber Grape Jam (13.5 oz; Lot R11439; Best by 3/9/2013) has been recalled because a piece of glass was found in one jar.
- FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Nordimex, LLC (San Diego, CA) that a May 2011 inspection of the company’s facility revealed serious violations of FDA’s Current Good Manufacturing Practice in Manufacturing, Packaging, Labeling or Holding Operations for Dietary Supplements (CGMP) regulations for Dietary Supplements.
- FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Hong Kong Food Company (Los Angeles, CA) that an August/September 2011 inspection of the company’s seafood processing facility revealed serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation, and the Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulation for foods.
- FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns ECRS, LLC dba Big Chef (Hollywood, FL) that a July/August 2011 inspection of the company’s seafood processing facility revealed serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation, and the Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulation for foods.
Canada
- Allergy Alert: Marché Marie-Lynn (Longueuil, QC) recalls Grape Danish, Raspberry Danish and Almond Creme Croissant, because the pastry products contain undeclared egg.
- Food Safety Recall (Expanded): Shellfish processors have expanded their original recall of raw mussels to include raw in-shell oysters and shucked oysters, because the shellfish products may contain paralytic shellfish toxins. The recalled oysters were harvested between October 2 and 14, 2011 from sub area 15-4, Okeover Inlet, British Columbia and were distributed – primarily to wholesalers, restaurants and other institutional clients – in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario, and possibly to other provinces and territories. - Food Safety Recall: Loblaw Companies Ltd. recalls President’s Choice Milk Chocolate and Almond Caramel Clusters (195g; All lot codes), because the product may be contaminated with glass particles.
Europe
- Food Recall (Belgium): Le Bon Grain NV/SA recalls Dibro Pine Nuts (175g; Best by 31/10/2012 and 30/04/2012), because certain packages contain the variety Pinus Armandii, which can leave a bitter aftertaste.
- Food Safety Recall (France): Intersnack recalls Carrefour Discount Organic Chips (200g bags; Best by 13.02.2012), because the product may be contaminated with particles of glass.
- Food Safety Recall (Denmark): Uhrenholt A/S recalls Emborg sliced cheddar cheese (250g; Best before 17-12-2011), due to mold growth on the product.
- Food Safety Notification (EU #2011.1438): Presence of poisonous mushrooms in mixed mushrooms from Serbia; distributed to Italy.
- Food Safety Notification (EU #2011.1440): Salmonella Dublin in frozen raw beef from Ireland; distributed to Sweden.
- Food Safety Notification (EU #2011.1441): Salmonella spp. in paan leaves from Bangladesh; distributed to the United Kingdom.
- Food Safety Notification (EU #2011.1442): Listeria monocytogenes in smoked salmon from Denmark; distributed to Italy.
- Food Safety Notification (EU #2011.1446): Salmonella Montevideo in fresh tarragon from Israel, via the Netherlands; distributed to Denmark.
- Food Safety Notification (EU #2011.1447): Cadmium in anchovy rolls with capers in vegetable oil from Spain, via the Czech Republic; distributed to Slovakia.
- Food Safety Notification (EU #2011.1448): Listeria monocytogenes in chilled smoked salmon from Poland; distributed to France.
- Food Safety Notification (EU #2011.1451): Excessive propylene glycol in cocoa cake from Spain; distributed to Denmark.
- Food Safety Notification (EU #2011.1453): Benzopyrene in pumpkin oil from Slovenia; distributed to Slovenia.
- Food Safety Notification (EU #2011.1455): Oxamyl in cucumbers from Greece; distributed to Greece.
