Recall Roundup: February 3, 2011

United States

  • Allergy Alert: Magic Valley Fresh Frozen, Inc. (McAllen, TX) recalls Spartan brand and Shurfine brand frozen breaded okra (16 oz. pkg; Code MV29110O1 or MV23510P1), because they may contain undeclared whey.
  • Allergy Alert: Tomaso’s (Blue Lake, CA) recalls Caesar Dressing, 12 oz., because the dressing contains undeclared egg.
  • Allergy Alert: Unified Grocers recalls Mariegold Baking White Bread (24 oz) and Vallarta Premium White Bread (24 oz) because they may contain undeclared milk. The affected code dates are Feb 2, Feb 3 and Feb 5.
  • Allergy Alert Update: Shuckman’s Fish Co. (Louisville, KY) updates the recall of 8 ounce packages of Mooney’s Kentucky Bourbon Cheese and ValuMarket Beer Cheese Spread because they may contain undeclared soy and anchovy puree. The recalled products are sold to retail stores in Kentucky.
  • Food Safety Recall Update: The Hawaii State Department of Health is issuing a revised list of recalled products manufactured by First Commercial Kitchen LLC based on new information received on February 1, 2011. The previous list should be disregarded and replaced by this list.
  • Dietary Supplement Safety Recall: Godi International, Corp. (South Florida) recalls Fruta Planta and Reduce Weight Fruta Planta weight loss dietary supplements, because they contain undeclared Sibutramine.

Canada

  • Allergy Alert: AFOD Ltd. recalls Century brand Bicol Express canned Tuna (180g cans; Product of Philippines; all codes), because the product contains undeclared soy). The recalled canned tuna was distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Yukon.

Europe

  • Food Safety Recall (UK): Oriental Merchant (Europe) Ltd. recalls Mas-River Fried Dace with Salted Black Beans, 184g (all dates and batch codes), because the product is from an unapproved establishment in Malaysia and high levels of histamine have been found in one batch of tins.

Australia and New Zealand

  • Food Safety Recall Update (New Zealand): Biofarm Products Ltd extends its earlier recall (Biofarm Bush Honey Yogurt, 1 litre, Best Before 5th March 2011) to include the addition of Acidophilus Yogurt, 1 litre, Best Before 5th March 2011 – after discovering the presence of E. coli.
