Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA: FDA and CDC report an outbreak of 39 confirmed cases of E. coli O121:H19 illnesses in 18 states. Fifteen people have been hospitalized and there has been one death. The outbreak has been linked to consumption of organic whole carrots and organic baby carrots from Grimmway Farms.

Food Safety Recall: Grimmway Farms recalls multiple brands of organic whole carrots and organic baby carrots due to potential contamination with E. coli O121:H19. The recalled products have been implicated in a multi-state outbreak of E. coli O121:H19 infections. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada.

Food Safety Recall: The Kroger Co recalls Home Chef Chicken Street Taco (9.93 oz; All codes) and Home Chef Asian Style Chicken Stir Fry (13 oz; All codes) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Nut Works Canada recalls Nut Works brand raw, whole pistachios (150g; Multiple lot codes and Best before dates; UPC 803871 603801) due to Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Grimmway Farms recalls various brands of organic carrots imported from the USA due to possible contamination with E. coli O121. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.
